Why do some Hakko product have slightly varying part numbers?

Ever come across
A standard
First Section: Model Number
The first section shows the model number - it identifies which
For example:
- Is it an FX-888D or an FX-951 Soldering Station?
- Is it an FX-600 or FX-601 Soldering Iron?
All products with the same model number e.g. FX-888D, have the same product details and specifications* such as weight, dimensions, temperature range etc.
*Excluding product voltage
Second Section: Voltage Differentiator
The second section is a voltage differentiator, not the voltage itself. It shows that the input voltage required is different.
For example:
- FX601-01: 100V
- FX601-11: 220-240V
- FX888D-04BY: 110V
- FX888D-11BY: 230V
- FX888D-22BY: 240V
This is important to note when purchasing online, as the voltage purchased should match with the country in which you are using the product. A different voltage (e.g. a 120V machine used in a 230V country) may cause the product to fry and stop functioning. Click here for more info on the voltages.
NOTE: There are some products with the same voltage but a different number in the second section due to other factors such as the addition or absence of a certain spare part/component in the packing list. Simply chat with our friendly sales representative for more info!
Third Section: Additional Information
The third section shows some additional information such as color or whether it has a calibration report.
- FX888D-11BY: Blue and Yellow (Silver model discontinued)
- FG100B-52: without calibration report
- FG100B-52C: with calibration report
